Web culture
There are many technological advancements in history that, over time, ends up impacting the world in some real and lasting way. One may immediately think of the discovery of electricity, the invention of the automobile, discovery of flight. One may also think of the water mills of late 800 AD or the gutenberg press.
The impact of some these inventions or discoveries have been enormous. Think of the impact the gutenberg press has had alone. Millions of people who had no access to reading and books, suddenly having access to these things. Education, and revival took Europe by storm in less than 100 years time, thanks to Johann Gutenberg's invention.
I have said for the past fourteen years that the world wide web would be a cutural phenomenon on the level of the Gutenberg press. We are still in the very early stages of this phenomenon. This video stirs questions in this same vein:
